INTERACTIONS

Silver Proteinate Solution may interact with papain-based products. Papain is a proteolytic enzyme, belonging to the class of hydrolases, which is extracted from the immature fruit of the papaya (Carica papaya). The concomitant use of silver proteinate and papain may inhibit the enzymatic action of papain.

The following are adverse reactions of silver proteinate, organised according to the MedDRA system organ classification. There are insufficient data to establish the frequency of the individual effects listed. Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders : Dermatitis, Rash, Burns, Skin irritation, Skin discolouration, Hypersensitivity reactions, Argyria (see section 4.9).

OVERDOSE

In case of overdose, elevated concentrations of silver in plasma and skin discoloration may occur. In addition, systemic symptoms such as hepatotoxicity, cardiomyopathy, amnesia and slurred speech may occur. Prolonged daily ingestion of silver proteinate may cause irreversible neurotoxicity, with myoclonic status epilepticus, leading to coma and ultimately death. Accumulation of silver in the skin, mucous membranes, membranes and eyes, due to ingestion or absorption of even small amounts, may cause argyria. Argyria is characterized by a gray to dark blue skin coloration, due to the binding of silver to various proteins and the consequent production of pigments.

Pregnancy There are no adequate data regarding the use of silver proteinate in pregnant women. Silver proteinate should not be used during pregnancy unless clearly necessary. Breastfeeding There are no adequate data regarding the use of silver proteinate during breastfeeding. Silver proteinate should not be used during breastfeeding unless clearly necessary.
