INDICATIONS

Why is Selftest streptococcus Sofarmapiù rapid throat test used? What is it for?

HOW TO USE

How do I use Selftest streptococcus Sofarmapiù rapid throat test?

Collect a throat swab sample using the disposable swab provided in the test kit.
Swab the posterior pharynx, tonsils and other surrounding inflamed areas, avoiding contact with the tongue, inside of the cheeks and teeth.
It is recommended to fast for more than half an hour before collecting the sample to avoid interference with food.
It is recommended to carry out the test immediately after collecting the sample via throat swab. If testing cannot be performed immediately, throat swab specimens should be stored in a clean, dry, airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 hours and at 2 to 8°C for up to 24 hours. Do not freeze.
Before testing, allow tests, specimens and reagents to reach room temperature (15-30°C).
If the patient is between the ages of 3 and 16, the following testing steps must be performed by a parent or legal guardian.
Wash your hands with warm soapy water, rinse with clean water and dry.
Place the test kit box on a clean, dry, flat surface. Insert the empty plastic tube into one of the tube holder slots.
Add 6 drops of Reagent 1 (white bottle cap) and 4 drops of Reagent 2 (red bottle cap) to the tube and mix thoroughly.
To avoid dispensing too many drops when adding the solution, gently pinch the reagent bottle 1 and reagent bottle 2 to control the intensity and speed of the dripping.
Open the package containing the disposable swab. Pull out the swab using the plastic handle and avoid touching the cotton tip.
Stand in front of the mirror, tilt your head back and open your mouth as wide as possible. Take the tongue depressor with one hand and flatten the tongue.
Use your other hand to insert the swab into your throat. Touch the back of your throat, which is the area around your tonsils and any areas that are red or sore. It is recommended to rotate the swab because it increases the quantity of sample collected. If you have difficulty, ask someone to help you collect the sample.
After collecting the sample, insert the cotton tip of the swab into the plastic tube provided, in which you have already added the two reagents and previously placed in the opening marked on the test kit box.
Holding the swab by the plastic handle, rotate it against the sides of the tube approximately 10 times to thoroughly mix the solution. Allow the swab to incubate for 1 minute.
Remove the tube (with the swab and extraction liquid still inside) from the opening marked on the test kit box. Using your thumb and forefinger, squeeze the sides of the tube to squeeze as much liquid as possible out of the tip of the swab and collect it in the tube. Remove the swab.
Dispose of the swab in accordance with local laws and return the tube to the marked opening on the test kit box.
Add the test tube cap to the plastic test tube.
Dispense 3 drops into the sample well on the test cassette.
If a dispensed drop contains air bubbles, add another to the sample well.
During the test, the test tube must be kept in a vertical position, with the dropper pointing downwards.
Wait for the colored line or lines to appear. Read the test result within 5 minutes.
Do not interpret results beyond 10 minutes.

Interpretation of results
Positive
Two distinct colored lines appear. A line should appear in the control region (C) and another line in the test region (T), indicating that the result is positive. Indicates that you may be experiencing a group A strep infection and should consult your doctor.
The intensity of the test line in the test line (T) region varies depending on the concentration of Group A Streptococcus antigens present in the specimen. Therefore, any shade of color in the test line area (T) should be considered as indicative of a positive result.
Negative
A colored line appears in the control line region (C), no apparent colored line appears in the test line region (T), indicating a negative result. Indicates that the concentration of Group A Streptococcus antigens is zero or below the detection limit of the test.
Invalid
The control line does not appear. Insufficient sample volume or incorrect procedural techniques are among the main causes that could prevent the appearance of the control line. In this case it is recommended to review the procedure and repeat the test using a new test cassette. If the problem persists, we recommend that you immediately discontinue use of the same test lot and contact your distributor.
