Schoum Solution Adults: One small glass (50 g) 4-6 times a day Children: Half a small glass (25 g) 1-2 times a day The dose should be taken preferably away from meals. Schoum Forte Solution Adults: 2 tablespoons, 4-6 times a day Children: 1 tablespoon, 1-2 times a day The dose should be diluted with the same amount of water and taken preferably away from meals.

The presence of a flaky precipitate does not indicate alteration of the product. Solution Schoum and Solution Schoum Forte contain ethanol. Solution Schoum Forte in the adult dosage and Solution Schoum in the adult and children dosages contain an amount of ethanol corresponding to a dose lower than 15 mg/kg: this amount of alcohol will not produce significant effects. The single dose for children of Solution Schoum Forte (one spoonful, equal to approximately 15 ml) administered to a child aged between 5 and 11 years and with an average weight of 16 kg results in exposure to approximately 17 mg/kg of ethanol, which can cause an increase in blood alcohol concentration of approximately 2.8 mg/100 ml. Co-administration with medicinal products containing for example propylene glycol or ethanol can lead to accumulation of ethanol and induce adverse effects, particularly in children with low or immature metabolic activity. Solution Schoum and Solution Schoum Forte contain fructose. Solution Schoum contains 75 mg fructose per dose for adults and 37.5 mg fructose per dose for children, equivalent to 15 mg fructose/g, while Solution Schoum Forte contains 99 mg fructose per dose for adults and 50 mg fructose per dose for children, equivalent to 3.3 mg fructose/g. The additive effect of co-administration of medicinal products containing fructose (or sorbitol) and dietary intake of fructose (or sorbitol) should be taken into account. Patients with hereditary intolerance to fructose should not be given this medicine. Solution Schoum and Solution Schoum Forte contain esters of p-hydroxybenzoic acid. They may cause allergic reactions, possibly delayed. Solution Schoum and Solution Schoum Forte contain less than 1 mmol sodium (23 mg) per dose, i.e. they are essentially “sodium-free”. Solution Schoum and Solution Schoum Forte contain propylene glycol. Schoum Solution contains 8 mg propylene glycol per dose for adults and 4 mg propylene glycol per dose for children, equivalent to 0.16 mg propylene glycol/g, while Schoum Solution Forte contains 10.5 mg propylene glycol per dose for adults and 5.25 mg propylene glycol per dose for children, equivalent to 0.35 mg propylene glycol/g.
