CONTRAINDICATIONS AND SIDE EFFECTS

Carediesse must not be used in case of known hypersensitivity to ciclopirox, ciclopirox olamine or to any of the excipients listed in paragraph 6.1.
DOSAGE
Quantity and method of taking Carediesse 10 mg/g 2x60 ml shampoo - How is Carediesse 10 mg/g 2x60 ml shampoo taken?
For cutaneous use. For the initial treatment of the symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis, Carediesse is applied to the scalp once or twice a week, depending on the severity, for 4 weeks. For subsequent prophylaxis of symptoms, treatment can be continued for another 12 weeks. The use of Carediesse should be limited to a maximum of 16 weeks of continuous use.
Paediatric population : The safety and efficacy of Carediesse in children have not been investigated. There are no data available.
Method of administration: The contents of one measuring cap (approximately 5 ml) of Carediesse should be applied to wet hair and scalp, rubbing until foam forms. The foam should then be massaged thoroughly into the scalp. If the hair is longer than shoulder length, up to two measuring caps of shampoo (approximately 10 ml) should be used. Carediesse should be left to act for 3 minutes and then rinsed with water.

WARNINGS
Warnings Carediesse 10 mg/g 2×60 ml shampoo - About Carediesse 10 mg/g 2×60 ml shampoo it is important to know that:
Patients should be advised to avoid contact with eyes when using Carediesse. In case of accidental contact with eyes, rinse with plenty of water. This medicinal product contains 0.525 mg sodium benzoate and 1.08 mg benzoic acid per 1 g of shampoo, which is equivalent to a total of 1.678 mg/ml (corresponding to 0.548 mg/ml sodium and 1.13 mg/ml benzoic acid). Benzoic acid/benzoate salt may cause local irritation. Benzoic acid/benzoate salt may increase jaundice in newborns (up to 4 weeks of age). In case of irritation or sensitization after prolonged use of the product, treatment should be discontinued and other appropriate therapy should be initiated. Hair color changes have been observed, especially in patients with chemically damaged hair (e.g. caused by hair coloring) or white or gray hair.
INTERACTIONS

There are no known cases of interactions between ciclopirox and other medicinal products.
SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, Carediesse 10 mg/g 2×60 ml shampoo can cause side effects - What are the side effects of Carediesse 10 mg/g 2×60 ml shampoo?
Immune system disorders. Rare (>1/10,000 to <1/1,000): allergic contact dermatitis may occur.
Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders. Uncommon (>1/1,000 to <1/100): hair changes such as dullness and heaviness, mild dryness of the hair, mild hair loss or changes in colour and skin reactions at the application site such as irritation and eczema and subjective complaints such as burning and itching.
Reporting of suspected adverse reactions : Reporting suspected adverse reactions that occur after authorisation of the medicinal product is important. OVERDOSE
Overdose Carediesse 10 mg/g 2×60 ml shampoo - What are the risks of Carediesse 10 mg/g 2×60 ml shampoo in case of overdose?
There is no experience with overdose with ciclopirox-containing preparations. However, no significant systemic effects are expected if Carediesse is used too frequently. In case of accidental ingestion, initiate appropriate therapy.
PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking Carediesse 10 mg/g 2×60 ml shampoo.
Pregnancy: For ciclopirox no clinical data on exposed pregnancies are available. Animal studies do not indicate direct or indirect harmful effects with respect to pregnancy, embryonal/foetal development or parturition. However, there are insufficient data on possible long-term effects on postnatal development (see section 5.3). Caution should be exercised when the medicinal product is prescribed to pregnant women.
Breastfeeding: It is not known whether ciclopirox is excreted in human milk. Therefore, women who are breastfeeding should not use Carediesse.
Fertility: No studies on the effects of ciclopirox on human fertility have been conducted. Indications of reduced fertility were found in rats at a dose of 5 mg/kg after oral administration (see section 5.3).
