Aminotrophic NE it's a food for special medical purposes by Errekappa Euroterapici, in 5.5 g powder sachets to be dispersed in water. Each envelope contributes 4 g of amino acids in free form, that is, ready to be absorbed without having to be released by the digestion of a protein.
The manufacturer intends it to dietary management of protein malnutrition in acute and chronic pathologies accompanied by loss of muscle mass, and to senile or neoplastic sarcopenia. It is the formula with which a food for special medical purposes declares who it is intended for, and the manufacturer writes it identically on the website and on the technical data sheet.
The mixture is made up of eleven amino acids, nine of them essential, that is, that the organism does not know how to build itself. Per envelope: L-leucine 1.25 g, L-lysine 0.65 g, L-isoleucine 0.62 g, L-valine 0.62 g, L-threonine 0.35 g, L-cystine 0.15 g, L-histidine 0.15 g, L-phenylalanine 0.10 g, L-methionine 0.05 g, L-tyrosine 0.03 g and L-tryptophan 0.02 g. The three branched chain amino acids, leucine, isoleucine and valine, alone do 2.49g of the total 4 g.
A surprising fact on the label, and which is correct: the nutritional declaration reports 0 g of protein. This is not an error, and is confirmed both by the technical data sheet and by the manufacturer's website: free amino acids are not linked in peptide chains, so they are not counted as proteins in the labeling. The bag remains almost calorie-free, 21 kcal, fat, 0.06 g, and sugar, 0.16 g.
The dust disperses in water and theosmolarity of the solution is declared by the manufacturer: 340 mOsmol/l dissolving one sachet in 100 ml of water and 270 mOsmol/l in 140 ml. The manufacturer describes the product as suitable for the diet and those who feed enterally, that is, through a probe, and those who have a normal swallowing function, and highlights its palatability as an element that facilitates the transition from one to the other.
The situations in which the manufacturer recommends its use are: reduced physical capacity or easy fatigue, the unplanned weight loss, a insufficient intake of foods rich in proteins of high biological value such as meat, cheese, milk and eggs, theallurement or poor daily physical activity, the loss of muscle mass due to chronic diseases such as chronic heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), the period during and after an infectious episode and the period following surgery or in the presence of wounds.
The case contains 30 sachets of 5.5 g, for a total of 165 g of powder. It's from Errekappa Euroterapici S.p.A., of Milan, and the production is by the Pharcoterm S.r.l. workshop. of Cusano Milanino.
